Conceptual clarifications of critical of terms – ICT, digital economy, youth empowerment, sustainable job creation are done, after which the main major trends and frameworks of ICT in research and society are discussed. Critical issues and challenges of the use of ICT such as aggregation, analysis, and uses of data, digitisation, and the dynamics of ICT in research are also discussed.
